On Line Retailers
There is a growing trend for new retailers to come off the high street and on line, on line retailers are growing in numbers, Amazon and eBay have shown that there is money to be made. The cost of your shop front is a website and naturally the cost of the product you sell.
The top four advantages are:
– There is no shop rent
– No business rates
– No sales staff required
– No fixed opening hours
In many cases you will never have to meet your customer. It is this easy.
It’s down to you to decide what to sell, the many products that are hot are male grooming products, beard styling and maintenance products is a current trend and ladies fashions and grooming are also top for the hot products.
You visit the core on line retailers to see what’s selling fast eBay and Amazon list the top sellers with frequency.
Newly created on line retailers come from various backgrounds, many hold down a day job and are house holds that are looking for a bit of extra income. Stay at home Mothers find it particularly convenient, juggling home life and work life is stressful at the best of time. It was recently reported on Mumsnet a mother with 3 children under 5, including a new born had launched herself as an on line retailer. It seemed to be working for her. In the early hours while calming down the new born she could do the simple task of addressing envelopes and getting orders prepared. Naturally this will all depend on what you’re selling, if you’re selling flat pack wardrobes then this is unlikely to slot into a calm middle of the night activity as your family sleep around you.
Most new on line retailers keep things simple, small and grow from there. Home interior nick knacks and the quirky product seem to inspire new on line retailers into a small start up.
An afternoon on the internet can result in a website with a sales function, accounts set up with the core retail site and a PayPal account plumbed in for receiving credit card payments.
At FLEXiSPACE we have had a host of online retailers join our happy family of customers. When their retail activities mean they need the space for product, or merely want to create a work life balance. When stock comes in rather than be beholden to wide delivery time slots, they get parcels delivered to FLEXiSPACE, it’s popped into the FLEXiSPACE delivery room and they come and collect it when they have the time. Same goes with dispatching goods, customers arrange for the postman or courier to collect from our premises, which is preferable to having to park up, wait and queue at the post office.
When FLEXiSPACE launched our Ashton Old Road centre we had a newly opened on line retailer join us with a simple 20sqft unit. Now nearly 3 years on, they’re in a 400 sqft unit and it’s now a full time operation rather than something done on the way in or away from their day job.
If you feel the inclination to spark up your entrepreneurial spirit, you can launch your business from our FLEXiSPACE centre with the small cost of £7 +vat per week.
