When it comes to the weekend, sometimes there isn’t enough time to get everything done. Perhaps you’re familiar with those situations when you need to do some important jobs yet you want to make the most of your family’s time?
It may be an important task with the bank or building society, or perhaps you’d like to check in to your self-storage location to run some errands. With our FLEXiSPACE Ashton Old Road location within easy reach of the city centre, rather than leaving everyone at home, dropping off mum or dad and the kids to have some fun whilst you get on with your tasks has never been easier.
Even better? You can join in on some quality time together once you’ve finished. Read on to discover 4 cheap ways to keep the kids entertained in Manchester.
1. Explore Manchester Cathedral
Create your own adventures in the stunning Manchester Cathedral. Steeped in history reaching right back to the Middle Ages and the Blitz, it’s a great place to tell stories and let your little ones’ imaginations run wild. On weekdays, there are free guided tours and if you plan your visit, you can check out one of the cathedral’s monthly Coffee Concerts.
2. Head to Spinningfields for some culture and free fun
Throughout the year, there are plenty of free events throughout Manchester that are perfect for the whole family to enjoy. Spinningfields tends to have a wide array of interactive and fun events ranging from free cinema screenings to themed markets, music and interactive days for the family. Keep updated on their website to find out when and what’s happening.
3. Watch films for free
The stunning central library is the perfect escape for a cold or rainy day. Not only will its gorgeous surroundings and literature in abundance keep you and the kids occupied, it is also now home to the BFI’s (British Film Institute) Mediatheque. With over 2,000 British films and TV shows ranging from kids’ TV to documentaries and feature-length films, you can watch what you want in modern viewing pods, which are cool enough to get the kids excited even before the film starts.
4. Learn and explore
Expand your mind by visiting one of the many museums located in the city centre. The Greater Manchester Police Museum is the perfect place to take little ones who may like the gruesome and gritty, whilst the Manchester Museum will keep the whole family entertained for a full day with highlights including Stan the T-rex and Percy the Plesiosaur.
Whether you need to temporarily store some boxes of toys and clothes the kids have grown out of, or you just want to hide the family’s Christmas presents – making a trip to our secure Manchester city centre storage facility won’t take a chunk out of your day, leaving you with plenty of time to spend together.
